“We fully understand how disappointing it is to our American fans who have been eagerly awaiting our participation in the Florida Cup as part of our pre-season preparation. Our apologies also go to the organizers of the Cup. from Florida who did a fantastic job with the preparations and our partners who had organized events around our participation in the competition.
“We are happy to say that staff members are currently free of symptoms of Covid. They are now in self-isolation at home.
“We are now making alternative arrangements in accordance with Premier League protocols to continue our preparations for the new season.
“We hope everyone understands this predicament which is beyond anyone’s control.”
The news throws disarray in their preparations for the Premier League opener against Brentford on August 13.
Arteta said after the trip to Scotland his players need match minutes to hone their sharpness and skills.
They will now miss two games, which means their last two games before facing Brentford will be against Chelsea and Tottenham in the Mind Series on August 1 and 8 respectively.
Little hope of drawing inspiration from other Scottish Olympic legends
